High Five and a little junk in the trunk!

We've got serious "junk in our trunk"!!

This is what I walked into when I reminded Brandon the car needed to be cleaned out because it gets detailed this weekend.  Yoga mat, Cardinals bobble head doll,  shopping cart cover, 2 Thirtyone totes, camping chairs, jumper cables, hunting clothes (for 2 different seasons), baseball attire...you name it, it's probably in there!

Now on to my high five for this week-

1. The boys and I finished up a week of Vacation Bible School!

2.  I'm super pumped about an upcoming blog project!  I can't wait to share more about it later!!

3. After seeing countless ads I decided to purchase the new Almay CC Cream

I got it in the "medium" shade and it matches my skin tone well.
So far so good!!

4.  The outside wood trim on our house was repainted.  Looks so much better. We should probably go ahead and put the house on the market...right?!? :)

5.  I got up a little early this morning to make the kids an actual breakfast.  They have to be getting tired of Poptarts, muffins and waffles!!

Happy weekend!

A little emergency room excitement to end the weekend...

As you can see from my posts this week we had a pretty fun and exciting weekend.  It must not have been exciting enough for Parker!  He just had to add a little more thrill to the weekend!
Saturday evening both kids were in the tub getting ready for bed.  Everything was normal...hair was washed, feet were scrubbed and I had to tell Nolan to sit at least 15 times.  It was time to get out and start putting the pajamas on.  As Parker went to get out of the tub he slipped and hit his chin on the side of the tub.
I knew immediately that we were headed to the emergency room!

We had tears as first, but let me tell you this kid was a trooper!

2 1/2 hours and 4 stitches later he was one proud kiddo!

I'm hoping this weekend is a little more chill!!

TWO

This year we decided to tone down the birthday party and just do 2 small family parties.  And by toned down I mean a cake that was 3 tiered and a full stadium sized Elmo making a guest appearance!
My family party took place on Father's Day.  We took advantage of celebrating all of the dads and Nolan's 2nd birthday at the same time.
We celebrated with Brandon's family this past weekend on Sunday.  We celebrated Father's Day, Grandma Jahn's birthday and Nolan's birthday with an outdoor BBQ.
Happy Birthday Sweet (and sometimes often very mischievous) Nolan!!
Here's some shots from all the festivities!

(The cake and cookies were made by my cousin, Tina.  Message me for contact information if you are interested in having her create something for your next party!!)

Good times

As I said before, we were out of town this past weekend for a wedding in downtown Indy.
The festivities began Thursday evening with a "welcome party" for all guests on the top floor of The Chase Tower.  Just in case you didn't know...that's the tallest building in Indianapolis with us being on the 48th floor.  Check out this view!!

Not only was the view great, but we also enjoyed the company of our friends.  Good view, Good drinks, Good food and Good friends...Good times!

The actual wedding took place on Friday evening at 5:00 with the reception immediately after at Regions Bank.  Talk about a setting!!
We were located on the fifth floor on their inside/outside rooftop venue.
Another successful celebration for their wedding weekend!!
Ok, less talking and more pics...got it!!
Brandon and I taking advantage of a photo opportunity.

The dancing begins...

The dancing in full swing...
The guys.

Such a great weekend.  I wish I would've taken more pictures but I was having such a good time that I didn't.

Shopping, Wedding, Birthday and a trip to the E.R.- NEVER a dull moment

So, as you can imagine from the title my weekend was pretty crazy!  With that being said I have a lot to share with you this week.
I'll start with the shopping!
We had plans to leave Thursday late afternoon to head to Indianapolis for a Friday evening wedding.  Brandon found out that he needed to attend a business meeting in Bloomington Thursday morning so I took the opportunity to tag along to Bloomington in the morning and shop while he worked!!
A plan was made, the kids were dropped off early in the morning and I was ready for some shopping.  The all by myself, no kids to watch and no husband to rush me along type of shopping.  I was psyched!
Here are a few of my finds:

A pair of flats, a couple of dresses, a fun pair of patterned shorts, curtains, and a few other décor accessories (but I'll wait to show you those when the bedroom is finished)

There is some sadness to this shopping story.  I found the most beautiful and perfect purse.  It was the most perfect teal color with a cross body strap and short straps for resting on the forearm.  I loved it!  But, when the girl went to scan it she grabbed rather quickly and it pulled the hardware off the strap making the cross body strap detach from the purse on one end.  I went back to look through the purse section again just to see if they had another one...they didn't.
I left the store very disappointed because I really really really wanted the purse.  With my shopping morning over, we headed to Indy to spend the next two nights celebrating with friends. I was so excited to see everyone and have a few nights away that I had kind of forgotten about wanting that purse so bad.  Well, I forgot until I was reminded each block in downtown Indy...
I mean seriously it was the same color as the purse.
Don't worry, I'll get over it. (but in the meantime I will browse the web looking for it)  All in all it was a pretty successful morning of shopping.
Stay tuned the rest of the week for the recap of all our other weekend craziness!!
Tuesday- Wedding in Indy
Wednesday- Celebrating Nolan's 2nd Birthday

High five for Friday

Sorry this week was a hit and miss kind of week for the blog.  I was crazy busy getting things ready for our out of town weekend...which if  you were wondering we are having a blast!  Here's my high five for the week.
1. Parker got his very own library card and is pretty excited about it!

3.  Parker has been asking to have a camp out.  Well, we just couldn't find a weekend soon enough so he decided to "camp out" in his room under the tree I painted for him on his bedroom wall.  I'm sure you can picture my worry when I didn't find him in his bed that morning...it look me a while to find him mixed in with all of the stuffed animals and blankets!
Parker loved "camping out" so much that he tried to talk Nolan into it the next night.  Nolan wanted nothing to do with it- he likes his bed too much!

3.  Beautiful flowers blooming in our backyard.

4.  A couple hours of shopping in Bloomington all by myself.

5.  A weekend in Indianapolis celebrating our friends Kathryn and Chase's wedding...more photos on the blog next week!

Enjoy your weekend!

I've been busy

My Nolan can be quite the little stinker sometimes, but I'm telling you he's a saint when it comes to napping.  We're talking a 2-4 hour nap in the afternoon.  That makes for a pretty productive mommy!  I have a couple projects I am currently working on, but with an out of town wedding trip planned for later this week I haven't been quite as productive as I would like.
But to hold you over here's a few shots of my progress:
Painted Laundry Room Shelving

Painted Laundry Room Cabinets

First Coat Painted Concrete Laundry Room Floors

Hand Painted Bedroom Accent Wall

Painted Bedroom Nightstand

I can't wait to get them finished and share the end results with you!

6 simple words

I came across this blog post the other day and immediately wanted to share it with every parent I know.  Here's a little sneak peak of The Hands Free Mama as she "lets go...to grasp what really matters."

The next time you feel the need to guide, instruct, or criticize after a ball game, performance, or extracurricular activity, instead consider six simple words: “I love to watch you play.”
Furthermore, if you become emotional simply by watching someone you love in action, consider these six words, “I love to watch you _______.“
In some cases, less is more.
Less can be exactly what they need to hear. No pressure … just love, pure and simple.

High Five For Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I've been super busy this week.  I think there are 4 different paint brushes drying in the sink right now.  I can't wait to show you my latest projects...but not right now!  You'll have to wait.  Here's my high fives of the week to hold you over.

1. We walked down to the local Farmer's Market.  Locally grown shitake mushrooms and sugar snap peas.  Homemade cinnamon rolls and fruit cocktail cake.  YUM!!

 2.  The family cheering on the Dubois County Bombers!

3.  One of my favorites:  Noble Roman's breadsticks.

4.  Captain Crunch was very generous with his berries this morning!  :)
Not that I'm complaining, but that's more than usual...right?

5.  Another trip to Holiday World.  Parker was such a brave boy and went on the Log Ride.  The ride was too fast so I couldn't get a picture of that, but here are both boys on the canoes!

P.S. Good luck Jasper Wildcat Baseball at State!  Safe travels everyone.

A Lilly Pulitzer Inspired Luncheon

When I think of Lilly Pulitzer I think of color and print. Today I'm linking up with Pinterest Told Me To in a Lilly Pulitzer soirée.  If you've never heard of or shopped Lilly Pulitzer before, let me show you what I mean.

I wasn't joking when I said color and print!
I thought it would be fun to plan a pretend luncheon around the coloring and styles of the late great southern designer.  Here's my Lilly Pullitzer fabric inspiration.

Ok, so imagine me wearing this outfit...

entertaining friends on this patio furniture...

serving drinks from this tub...

chowing down from these plates.

For some reason I am in the mood for a party!  Who wouldn't be with all of these cute entertaining accessories from one of my new favorite

I hope you enjoyed my Lilly Pulitzer inspired luncheon ideas!  Lots of color! Lots of print!  Lots of fun!
